May 20, 2012 a "ring of fire" solar eclipse moves over northern California.

Unfortunately, we're a bit too far south to get the full "ring of fire", but we do get an 80% coverage of the sun in the evening. The morning starts out with great promise of clear skies by viewing time.

We start out taking photos in the late afternoon.
With the movement of the sun, we move to the front of the house to catch the maximum sun coverage.

At the max, people start shooting off guns in the hills (why?) and the birds start chirping away like it's morning. The light is very strange and noticeably darker.

Later we all toast to the sun and hope to see the total eclipse forecast for 2017.

To the sun, moon, and all the heavens for a great show |
