As we have done in previous years, we round up the hounds and head south to spend the Thanksgiving week with family and friends in the San Diego area.

Vineyards are common in this part of Santa Barbara county. We stop at
Flying Flags in Buelton, a high end RV park that caters to big rigs and people touring the wine country. It's a bit pricey, but it's conveniently located with a great dog park and an excellent family run cafe just next door.

We immediately notice many old airstream trailers in the park and wonder if the park is hosting a vintage trailer travel group. We learn later that the owners are renovating old vintage trailers and making them available to guests. One of the workmen offers to take me on a tour, which I readily accept. The Airstream he shows me has been remodeled in a modern retro theme, but he said others are completely restored to their original interiors.

The next morning we are up early and back on the road so we can sneak through the Los Angeles basin by mid morning to avoid as much traffic as possible. Traffic is light driving Hwy 101 through Ventura country alongside the Pacific ocean.
We escape LA relatively unscathed and make it to
Simons' 5 Star RV Resort by early afternoon.
The Simons are all in a Thanksgiving mood.

The Simons head to Dana Point for their Thanksgiving. The Hazardous clan all assembles at Patti's house to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
While the women prepare the food, the guys goof off. Just wait - they get to do the clean up.

The next morning we decide to work off some of the extra calories we packed on and give the dogs some exercise by taking them to a local canyon hiking trail.
This trail offers wonderful views at the top of the mesa.... although the smog is clearly visible out over the ocean.
All too soon it's time to saddle up and head back home.
