Willamette Valley - Corvallis

We continue up Hwy 99 to Corvallis, home of OSU and the Oregon State Beavers (rivals of the U of O Ducks). This town is very familiar as I went to both high school and college in Corvallis.  Corvallis/OSU is to UC Davis as Berkeley/UC is to Eugene/U of O.

Oregon farming has a long tradition

Other than the university, it's famous as a farming community. Corvallis is the heart of the fertile Willamette Valley, sought out final destination for the Oregon Trail and now home to 80% of Oregon's population.

Sherril and Rick's Farm

While in Corvallis, we are treated to a visit to Sherril (who Peter reconnected with at a recent high school reunion) and her husband Rick's farm about five miles north of town. They live in a beautifully restored 100 year old farm house.

Rick and Sherril have done a wonderful job staying true to the vintage farmhouse. We especially loved their kitchen.

They also give us a tour of their farm.
