2013 Holidaze

In the short break from Thanksgiving to Christmas/New Year's Eve, we try to exercise more to help beat back those extra Thanksgiving calories. We are lucky to have neighborhood trails close-by where the dogs get walked almost daily.

Pampas isn't native
but is pretty in the afternoon light

Our house glows in the late afternoon of the Solstice

The drought is bringing us wonderful winter weather. Since there's nothing we can do about the lack of rain, at least we can take advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a walk on the beach. One morning my friend Penny and I hike along Seacliff Beach.

Jenny the therapy dog - how can you not smile with her?

Peter loves Christmas decorations so we get ours up just before our first of guests arrive.
Welcome

The tree's all aglow

The next group to come are David, Bonnie and Paul. Bonnie and Paul have been traveling around the country in a Dolphin motor home, named Lula, while Paul's boat is undergoing renovations. After the holidays, they are sailing to the south seas. We look forward to reading the online log of their adventures on the Romany Star.

I kick back to watch the annual Rose Parade.
Next year, maybe I'll get to see it in person (hint)

Hummers ring in the New Year

The skies light up for the first sunset of 2014. Hope it's a good omen rather than a warning of a bad fire season ahead brought on by the drought.
